Overview
This course is an introduction to German. Students will develop basic competencies in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in German, as well as a basic knowledge of German culture, with a particular focus on Berlin.
Goals
- Students will receive an introduction to German pronunciation and grammar and be able to:
- Introduce themselves and others
- Express themselves and ask about personal details, work, areas of study, hobbies, and interests
- Deal with various situations in daily life (at the supermarket, in restaurants, on campus)
Main course components
Introduction, Phrasing questions, Work and Field of Studies, Places in the City, Daily Routine
In order to learn how to communicate meaningfully in German, class time will be devoted to engaging in as many communicative situations as possible. The course is designed to provide learners with ample opportunities to use new structures and vocabulary creatively.
